Polydore, original name POLIDORO VERGILIO (b. c. 1470, Urbino, Urbino
and Pesaro--d. April 18, 1555, Urbino), Italian-born Humanist who wrote
an English history that became required reading in schools and influenced
the 16th-century English chroniclers Edward Hall and Raphael Holinshed
and, through them, Shakespeare.
