The entire Museum Room was refurbished in 1999 with financial assistance from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Single Regeneration Funds for 'Believing in Folkestone'.
From its Anglo-Saxon origins
right up to present day, explore the development of the town. Alongside attractive displays of important collections, there are audio and film presentations, including film of Folkestone from 100 years ago, and hands on activities to bring history to life.
Trace the development of the environment from hundreds of millions of years ago, when Folkestone was deep under a tropical sea.
See archaeological evidence of early life, trade, and smuggling, and meet the reconstructed face of the Anglo-Saxon skeleton.
Experience Napoleon's planned invasion, and find out about Kent's role in the defence of England throughout history.

The museum has substantial collections of fossils, coins, natural history specimens and social history artefact. Researchers can view these collections by appointment.

The building has disabled access and has an audio loop upstairs.
