I'm looking to find my fathers older brother john martin who had a daughter called linda or leanne. In the 60s john owned dog kennels in folkestone. My father Gavin Trevor Martin was born in portsmouth in 1929 he had 2 brothers mick and john and a sister who was named grace. My father served in the royal marines. My fathers father was Albert Edward Martin and served in the Royal Navy he was married to a woman with the surname harris they as a family lived in bradford street portsmouth or colindale up until my grandparents seperated in the late 30s early 40s. My grandmother passed away in or around 1980 my grandfather died possibly in the late 60s or early 70s.My father gavin was given custody to his father and his younger brother mick remained with his mother. My Fathers older sister married a frenchman and had a son by the name of lucien.In 1963 my father immigrated to australia with his wife Rita and four children, David, Diana, Susan, and Gary another clue to this jigsaw is that upon leaving the uk my father gave his niece his war medals he also had a paternal aunt called jesse who my grandfather lived with in retirement. I'm hoping something will jog someones memory and help me locate a lost family member.

I wonder if any older Folkestone residents can throw any light on this question? I have a memory as a child of about 5 or 6 of going to an "underground" swimming pool in a town somewhere on the Kent coast. I'm fairly sure it was in Folkestone. The pool was distinctive as it was built into cliffs and the walls were rough-hewn rock. My memory says the walls were painted in bright reds, oranges etc!
I know there used to be a pool near the foot of the cliffs in Folkestone where the car park is now, but I'm not sure that my description above fits it. Of course, I could be mixing up two or more completely different memories!
If anyone can throw any light on this, I'd love to hear from you.
